Shocking Scene Uncovered in Sutha Village
In the early hours of Monday, villagers from Sutha — part of the Khudaganj police sector — entered their local shrine to confront a grisly sight: two temple custodians had been slain and their bodies set ablaze.
Who Were the Victims?
One of the men, Gopaldas, was a long‑standing resident of Azizganj who had tended the Sutha temple for several years. Sharing the sanctum for roughly a month was Baba Bihari Das, a caretaker who came from a neighboring temple.
Prime Suspect Emerges
Preliminary investigations point to Sumit Singh, a local who was released from incarceration about a month ago. According to neighbours, Singh often visited the two caretakers and voiced a desire to live on the temple premises, which ignited a series of confrontations.
Police say an argument erupted on the night of the killings over Singh’s claim to the property, after which he disappeared.
Community Reaction
Residents describe Singh as an individual with a criminal record and a history of drug abuse. Many villagers kept their distance from him and reportedly opposed his return to the community after his release.
Police Response
Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit confirmed that Singh’s name surfaced early in the probe. Three dedicated police teams have been mobilised to locate him, while broader inquiries continue into the double homicide.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are examining every facet of the case — from the motive behind the violent dispute to the circumstances that led to the bodies being set on fire. Further updates will be provided as the search for the suspect advances.
