Body discovered inside a parked vehicle

Local authorities were alerted to a lifeless individual concealed within a car parked in the Friends Colony area, close to the Jamuna Palace complex. When officers from the Rajiv Nagar police station arrived on the scene, they found the man with a gunshot wound and retrieved a handgun lying nearby.

Who the victim was

The deceased was identified as Alok Kumar, a retired engineer who had risen to the position of General Manager at Coal India. Originally from Motihari, Kumar settled in Ranchi after retirement and was officially listed as a resident of the Indira Nagar police‑station jurisdiction in Gonda, near Kanke Road.

Family says he travelled to Patna to meet his sister

Kumar’s brother‑in‑law, Vinod Kumar, lives in Flat 302, F‑Block of Vidya Vihar Apartments – the same neighbourhood where the car was located. According to Vinod, Alok arrived in Patna roughly two nights before his death, having previously visited the city about fifteen days earlier. He had come to Patna to spend time with his sister, who lives nearby. Kumar’s wife had passed away some time ago, and his son resides outside Patna.

On the morning the body was found, Kumar reportedly set out for his routine walk and never returned. His remains were later recovered inside the stationary car beneath Jamuna Palace.

Police secure the area and summon forensic experts

Following the grim discovery, officers cordoned off the location and began collecting physical evidence. A forensic team from the Forensic Science Laboratory was dispatched to photograph the scene, seize the recovered firearm, and gather any biological material for analysis.

Investigators examine CCTV and interview witnesses

Authorities are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras installed around Friends Colony to piece together Kumar’s movements from his arrival to the moment the car was left unattended. They are also questioning relatives, neighbours, and anyone who may have interacted with him in the days leading up to his death.

Cause of death remains under investigation

At present, police are treating the case as an open inquiry, weighing the possibilities of suicide against foul play. The final verdict will depend on the post‑mortem report, ballistics analysis of the pistol, and any additional evidence uncovered during the ongoing probe.
