Narkatiaganj: Police were called to a rented flat in Prakashnagar, Ward 11, after a 35‑year‑old married woman was found dead under suspicious conditions. The victim, identified as Gudiya Patel, was discovered with visible injury marks encircling her neck.

According to local sources, Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is said to be residing in Nepal. She had recently taken up residence in the aforementioned rental property in Prakashnagar.

Family members allege that Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku and a resident of Ward 1, had been a regular visitor to Gudiya’s home for the past three to four years. Her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, contend that Ashish strangled Gudiya to death.

Relatives also reported that Gudiya had a heated argument with Ashish roughly four days before the fatal incident and had informed her maternal family about the dispute.

They added that Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying with his maternal grandmother on the night of the tragedy, leaving his mother alone at the rented house. Her body was discovered later that night.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene after receiving a tip‑off and began a thorough examination of the case. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated, "We are investigating the matter from every possible angle, and appropriate action will be taken based on the post‑mortem results and the evidence we gather."
