Kidnapping Plot Unfolds at Galleria Market
On 21 September, a routine stop at Galleria Market turned into a near‑disaster for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his car and stepping into a coffee shop, he returned to discover three unknown men inside his vehicle, one brandishing a pistol and demanding that Sahil drive them away.
Quick Thinking Thwarts the Attack
When the gun failed to discharge, Sahil seized the chance, floored the accelerator, and forced the front‑seat gunman to abandon the car. The two occupants in the back leapt out as the vehicle surged forward, melting into the surrounding traffic.
Moments later a scooter forced Sahil to a sudden stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving his weapon behind. Investigators later retrieved the pistol from the car as part of the case file.
Police Response and Arrests
The following day Sahil lodged a complaint at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, launched an immediate investigation and identified five suspects:
- Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
- Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
- Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
- Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
- Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi
All five individuals were taken into custody while detectives pieced together each man's alleged role in the kidnapping scheme.
Commission Grievance as the Motive
According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the plot stemmed from a dispute over a property‑commission fee. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in closing a deal, only to watch the transaction finalized by another party, leaving Praveen unpaid.
Police believe the financial shortfall drove Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to pressure Sahil’s father into paying the owed amount and to cancel the pending sale.
Pre‑Planned GPS Tracking and Coordination
Investigators uncovered that Praveen had earlier fitted Sahil’s car with a GPS tracker, allowing the conspirators to monitor his movements. The duo reportedly traveled from Nuh with the firearm, recruiting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to execute the plan.
The ultimate aim was to force Sahil’s father to settle the commission claim by leveraging the threat of kidnapping.
Continuing Investigation
The arrested suspects are slated to appear before a magistrate. Further interrogations will focus on the depth of the conspiracy, the origin of the weapon, and each accused’s precise involvement.
"The use of a kidnapping threat to settle a commercial dispute is a grave escalation," said ACP Sharma.
