Arrests and seized firearms
The Crime Branch unit based in Farukhnagar, Gurugram, arrested three young men accused of planning a large‑scale criminal act in Delhi intended to spread terror. During the operation, officers seized two imported pistols and five live cartridges.
The accused are listed as:
- Abhay (alias Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
- Jatin (alias Jony), 29 – hailing from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
- Sagar, also from Kheda Jhajhrola.
All three have been charged under the Arms Act at the Sector‑10 police station.
How the arrests unfolded
Separate squads tracked each suspect to a different location. Abhay was intercepted near the Garhi flyover on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was apprehended in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was stopped close to the KMP expressway in the same vicinity. While trying to flee, Sagar jumped from a flyover, fractured his leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He will face further legal action once discharged.
Probe into weapon supply
Interrogations revealed that Abhay obtained the pistols from Jatin. Investigators are now tracing the source of Jatin’s firearms, with early leads indicating that the weapons passed through additional intermediaries.
Police suspect the trio maintained contact with contacts abroad, possibly receiving instructions for illegal money recovery and extortion schemes. The alleged plot aimed at executing a high‑impact crime in Delhi to instill fear, though the specific targets remain under investigation.
Police examining a wider network
Authorities are mapping the entire supply chain that delivered the weapons, scrutinising communication logs and seeking other participants in the conspiracy.
Records show that Jatin already faces a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his past dealings as part of the ongoing probe.
ACP Naveen Sharma emphasized that the investigation continues to uncover the origin of the firearms, the broader network, and any additional criminal links the arrested individuals may have. Updates will be provided as questioning proceeds and new leads are verified.
