Details of the Complaint
At the Bhargama police station in Araria district, a 22‑year‑old woman from Banka submitted a formal FIR against Mohammad Rabban, who lives in Ward 7 of Dhaneshwari panchayat. She claims Rabban hid his real identity and extracted cash from her on several occasions during a six‑year partnership.
How the Couple Met
According to the complainant, she was residing with her family near Delhi’s bustling Sabzi Mandi market when she first encountered Rabban, who introduced himself as “Sonu.” The two reportedly maintained a romantic relationship that spanned almost six years.
Proposal and Fallout
When the woman asked Rabban to marry her, he allegedly called her to his native village. Accompanied by her mother and brother, she traveled to Dhaneshwari panchayat, only to discover that a dispute erupted between the two families, causing the wedding plans to collapse.
Allegations of Money Misappropriation
The complainant further asserts that Rabban demanded money from her repeatedly throughout their liaison. After the broken marriage proposal, she approached the police to recover the funds and to lodge a fraud complaint.
Attempts at Community Mediation
Local villagers tried to intervene and negotiate a settlement, but the discussions failed. Consequently, the woman filed a written application with the Bhargama police outlining her grievances.
Police Response
Bhargama Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed receipt of the FIR and stated that the case is under preliminary review. He noted that, so far, no concrete proof of financial fraud has been produced. Investigators will verify the allegations against the evidence before deciding on further legal steps.
