Detention of Two Delhi Residents

Officers of the Bareilly Cyber Crime Unit apprehended two Delhi natives, identified as Vishal and Sachin Gupta, on allegations that they supplied bank accounts and SIM cards to individuals engaged in cyber‑illegal activities. One of the accused works as a taxi driver, the other as a delivery operative.

Items Confiscated

During the raid, investigators seized a collection comprising four mobile handsets, four SIM cards, 27 passbooks, multiple checkbooks, twelve ATM cards, and photocopies of Aadhaar and PAN documents, among other paperwork.

Fabricated Aadhaar Addresses

Interrogation revealed that the duo had altered the residential address on their Aadhaar cards, substituting their actual location with an address in Sainik Colony, Izzatnagar. This bogus address was subsequently used to open several bank accounts.

Connection to a Man Named Shoaib

According to the suspects, they first encountered a man called Shoaib while traveling by train. Shoaib allegedly offered them cash to create bank accounts and procure SIM cards. The pair agreed, changed the address on their Aadhaar, and received ₹5,000 for opening a UCO Bank account and obtaining a SIM. Later, they were promised ₹2 lakh per account.

Bank Accounts Set Up with Associates' Help

On 8 September, the pair rode a motorcycle to Bareilly. Shoaib, along with his accomplices Amal Saini and Fuzair, assisted them in opening accounts at multiple banks. Once the accounts were operational, Vishal and Sachin handed over the passbooks, checkbooks, ATM cards and SIMs before returning to Delhi.

Continuing Investigation

Authorities disclosed that Shoaib and Amal Saini are already serving sentences for unrelated cases. The Cyber Crime Police are still examining the seized material, tracing the opened accounts, and seeking any additional members of the alleged cyber‑crime network.
