New Delhi – In a dramatic turn of events, Delhi Police have apprehended five individuals suspected of looting cash worth about ₹1.5 crore from a pair of travelers on the city’s Outer Ring Road.
How the robbery unfolded
On the evening of 7 September, a commuter and his companion were riding an auto‑rickshaw from Chandni Chowk to Safdarjum Enclave, carrying a bag that held roughly ₹1.5 crore in cash. While navigating the stretch near the Geeta Colony flyover, a group of bikers forced the auto to stop, brandished weapons and fled with the bag.
Police response and recovery
The incident prompted an immediate FIR and a dedicated investigation. Detectives traced the culprits, leading to the arrest of five suspects. Interrogations yielded the recovery of about ₹1 crore, which has been handed over to the victims.
Authorities continue to chase the remaining amount and are probing possible links to a larger conspiracy, as well as identifying any additional accomplices.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to retrieve the full sum and bring every conspirator to justice,” said a senior police official.
