Gurugram: Gurugram police have taken Kalyan Bainsla into custody after a manhunt that began following his alleged collision with biker Siya on Golf Course Road. The suspect was apprehended in Dausa, Rajasthan, and is now being questioned as investigators piece together the incident.
Acting suo motu, officers filed a first information report at the Sector‑56 police station, initially charging Bainsla under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for negligent driving.
However, a meticulous review of surveillance footage revealed that the driver deliberately steered his vehicle toward Siya’s bike. Based on this evidence, authorities added Section 109 of the BNS—pertaining to attempted murder—to the charge sheet.
After fleeing the scene on September 13, Bainsla evaded capture for weeks. Police assembled three special teams to track him, ultimately locating him in Dausa, where he was arrested.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that Siya was riding her Aprilia RS 457 in a group when the incident occurred. A clip of the crash surfaced on Instagram, and Siya later posted her own video asserting that the driver intentionally rammed his car into her motorcycle after she ignored a signal to stop.
Section 109 carries a maximum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment. During interrogation, investigators will scrutinize the full sequence of events and corroborate the video evidence to build a robust case.
