Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today commissioned a squadron of 87 interceptor vehicles at Lok Bhavan, marking a decisive push toward high‑technology policing in Uttar Pradesh. The mix of four‑wheelers and two‑wheelers is designed to sharpen traffic surveillance, boost road‑safety measures, and reinforce police enforcement across the state.

A Leap Toward High‑Tech Policing

Addressing officials and the press, the CM traced Uttar Pradesh’s law‑and‑order journey since 2017 and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to overhaul police operations with modern tools. He pointed to the police commissionerate model as a structure that demands meticulous planning, bold leadership, and state‑of‑the‑art technology to create a safe environment for development and civic life.

State‑of‑the‑Art Interceptor Fleet

The newly unveiled interceptors are fitted with sophisticated monitoring kits, GPS‑based tracking systems and real‑time communication modules. Deployed on busy arterial roads, congested junctions and other high‑risk zones, they will feed instant data to Integrated Command and Control Centres.

Adityanath also linked the rollout to the broader Safe City initiative, noting that several districts now operate command centres that already support preventive patrols and investigative work.

Celebrating Valor and Service

The ceremony included a medal presentation to police personnel who have displayed exceptional dedication. Among the honourees was the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, posthumously bestowed the Kirti Chakra for his bravery, with his family receiving the tribute on his behalf.

The event also saw the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s memoir Sangharsh, a candid chronicle of police reforms and his decades‑long career on the force.

Traffic Safety at the Forefront

Speaking on the persistent challenge of road accidents, the chief minister emphasized that technology‑enabled enforcement combined with vigilant monitoring is essential to curb fatalities. The deployment of the 87 interceptors forms a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to modernise traffic management and protect commuters.

Through these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh aims to set a benchmark for contemporary policing, marrying traditional courage with digital precision.
