Dehradun – A fresh skill‑development drive has been launched to ready Uttarakhand’s young workforce for the fast‑changing demands of modern industry. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Department of Skill Development & Employment has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the M3M Foundation, aiming to channel youth into gainful jobs and entrepreneurial ventures through training in contemporary technical trades.
At a ceremony in Dehradun, the MoU was signed by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training) representing the Department, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee and President of the M3M Foundation.
Four Cities to Host the First Phase of Training Centres
The initial rollout will prioritize the establishment of state‑of‑the‑art training hubs in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur and Pithoragarh. Depending on local demand, resource availability and the pool of eligible candidates, the scheme may later expand to include Almora and Barkot.
Each centre is slated to offer at least two industry‑relevant courses, selected after a careful assessment of regional market needs. Beyond technical instruction, the program will actively link trainees with employers, provide dedicated placement assistance, and nurture pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
Modern Technical Trades on the Curriculum
The curriculum focuses on high‑growth sectors with strong employment prospects, including Electric Vehicles (EV), Auto Electrical Maintenance, Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Internet of Things (IoT) and Plumbing. Course offerings will be tailored to the specific job landscape of each location, and the partnership will reinforce collaboration between training institutes and local industries to maximise placement rates.
Employment‑Centric Approach
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee of the M3M Foundation, emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond classroom teaching. “Our goal is to shape youth skill sets to match industry expectations and to secure them meaningful, long‑term employment,” she said.
The department and the foundation will jointly monitor trainees’ outcomes, ensuring that the training remains industry‑oriented and that graduates receive robust support in securing jobs or starting their own enterprises.
Key officials attending the signing included Deputy Director (Employment) Chandrakanta, Deputy Director (Training) Niranjan Khugshal, Principal Dinkar Rautela, UKSDM Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni, and M3M representative Arvind Kumar Sharma.
