October Heat Still Persists
Even though the calendar has turned to October, Haryana continues to wrestle with summer‑like warmth. Daytime readings stay a few degrees above the usual, and the sun remains intense over much of the region.
Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar show that the last four to five days have been dominated by dry westerly winds, pushing daytime highs to 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows to 2‑3 °C higher than typical values.
Two Successive Western Disturbances Expected Oct 7‑12
Meteorologists now forecast a change as a pair of western disturbances traverse the area between 7 and 12 October. The systems are likely to introduce cloud cover, thunderstorms, showers and strong gusts across several districts.
First System – Arriving Oct 7
The first disturbance is predicted to reach the foothills of the Himalayas on 7 October, with its outer bands affecting Haryana that night. Northern districts could experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while parts of the south‑west may also see scattered showers.
These showers are expected to lower temperatures by a few degrees, providing temporary relief from the ongoing heat.
Second System – Expected Around Oct 9
A second western disturbance is slated to become active near 9 October. Its influence is likely to continue from 10‑12 October, bringing partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall in various locations.
The added moisture and wind should moderate the daytime highs that have dominated the past week.
After‑effects: A Cool Breeze
Once the twin disturbances move eastward, north‑westerly winds are expected to prevail, pulling down both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Residents can anticipate a noticeable drop in heat and humidity as cooler air settles in.
