Prayer at Gurdwara Nanakmatta Sahib

Dehradun – On Monday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhadi visited Gurdwara Nanakmatta Sahib, where he knelt before the holy shrine and sought blessings for peace, prosperity and the welfare of every resident in the state. In gratitude for his presence, the gurdwara’s managing committee presented him with a traditional siropa and a commemorative token.

Rolling Up Sleeves for a Clean‑Up

After the puja, the chief minister got down to work, joining volunteers in a hands‑on cleaning drive organized on the gurdwara premises under the banner of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. He swept, scrubbed and helped clear litter, stressing that hygiene should become a habit rather than a one‑off event.

A Shared Obligation for All Public Spaces

Speaking to the assembled crowd, Dhami emphasized that preserving the sanctity of worship places and maintaining their surroundings is a collective responsibility. He called on citizens to extend the same level of care to bus terminals, railway stations, hospitals, government offices and every other public venue.

Uttarakhand, he noted, holds a privileged position on India’s religious and tourism maps, attracting countless pilgrims and travelers each year. Keeping these high‑traffic sites clean, he said, demands ongoing participation from the community.

Service, Participation and the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

The chief minister linked the initiative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for public service. He observed that the principles of service, cleanliness and community involvement have gained momentum under the prime minister’s leadership.

CM Dhami participating in the clean‑up

Launched in Uttarakhand on September 17 to commemorate the prime minister’s birthday, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan comprises a series of programmes focused on service, citizen dialogue and innovative solutions. The clean‑up at Nanakmatta Sahib formed a key part of this larger mission.

Cleaning as an Ongoing Movement

Dhami warned that cleanliness should never be limited to a single campaign. He appealed for sustained public involvement, turning hygiene into a daily lifestyle choice. According to him, a united citizen effort can keep temples, tourist spots and public facilities clean, welcoming and dignified.

The event attracted a broad cross‑section of officials, gurdwara committee members and devotees. Notable participants included District Panchayat President Ajay Maurya, BJP District President Kamal Jindal, Nagar Panchayat President Prem Singh Turna, former MLA Prem Singh Rana, Gurdwara Management Committee President Sardar Jogendra Singh, General Secretary Sardar Amarjeet Singh Boparay, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, SSP Ajay Ganpati and Chief Development Officer Divesh Shasni.
