Three‑Day Campaign to Close Gaps in the Electoral Roll
From 7 October to 9 October, Jharkhand’s election machinery will run dedicated digitisation camps at polling stations throughout the state. The effort is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and aims to give citizens who were missed a chance to be enrolled.
Focus on Fresh Voter Enrolment
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and their assistants to ensure the three‑day push runs smoothly. Residents who are not yet on the roll can submit Form 6 at any of the camps. Staff will also fast‑track the digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers – Form 6 for new entries, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.
Statewide Mega Helpdesk on 10 October
After the digitisation sprint, every polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega helpdesk on 10 October. Voters can seek advice on registration, lodge objections, verify notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related queries. This is the fourth statewide initiative aimed at demystifying the revision process and addressing voter concerns.
Ensuring No Eligible Voter Is Left Out
CEO Kumar stressed that the election apparatus must leave no eligible Indian citizen off the roll. Officers have been asked to intensify outreach in areas where vulnerable or under‑represented groups reside, providing extra assistance wherever it is needed.
Why Inaccuracies Appear in the Roll
The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches in voter records can arise from enumeration errors, faulty mapping in previous revisions, or legacy data glitches. The current SIR exercise is not meant to rectify every historic mistake; its primary goal is to produce an accurate, up‑to‑date roll for the forthcoming election.
Eligibility Criteria for Inclusion
Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Required documents will be verified at the time of registration.
Election officials have been instructed to speed up the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive prompt assistance and the roll reflects the latest information. The final roll from this SIR cycle is slated for release on 19 October.
