New Central Funding Lands in Himachal’s Farm Belt

The Union has unlocked a fresh ₹64.82 crore package earmarked for agricultural development in Himachal Pradesh. The sum is split between two flagship programmes designed to modernise the state’s farming ecosystem.

How the Money Is Distributed

Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has allocated ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore is being channelled through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together, these two streams constitute the entire ₹64.82 crore infusion.

Political Leaders Applaud the Release

Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued support. Thakur said the funding will reinforce ongoing infrastructure works and ignite fresh projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm sector.

Planned Use of the Funds

The capital will back a spectrum of activities, from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to capacity‑building workshops for growers. Strengthening both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana will help accelerate planned interventions and keep existing schemes on track.

Wider Policy Backdrop

This disbursement forms part of a broader central push to ensure states receive timely resources for agriculture‑centric initiatives. Himachal’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative effort between the Union and the state to keep vital farm programmes financially robust.
