Director advises pilgrims to confirm on‑site conditions
Writer‑director Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi, the creative force behind the devotional movie Hanuman Ansh, shared a short video on social platforms urging worshippers to double‑check the situation at Kainchi Dham before setting out. He clarified that regardless of whether the surge is linked to the film’s release or not, travelers must stay informed about real‑time circumstances.
Chaturvedi pointed out that dense gatherings and elongated queues can become a hassle, particularly for families with young children and senior women. He suggested postponing the pilgrimage if the shrine is experiencing an unusually high influx of visitors.
Other Neem Karoli Baba pilgrimage options
Instead of wrestling with the packed main shrine, the director listed several lesser‑known yet spiritually significant sites associated with Neem Karoli Baba. These include the saint’s birthplace in Neem Karoli village, the serene Kakri Ghat, the historic Hanuman Garhi, the tranquil town of Akbarpur, and the ancient city of Vrindavan.
He emphasized that devotion is not confined to a single location; believers can still honor the guru by visiting any of these alternatives when Kainchi Dham reaches capacity.
Extended holiday drives a surge in visitors
The spike coincided with the October 2–4 long weekend. Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 was a national holiday, followed by Saturday and Sunday, providing an ideal travel window for many.
Uttarakhand’s famed hill stations also reported heavier traffic. Mussoorie, for example, faced severe congestion on the Mussoorie‑Dehradun road. Pilgrims poured in from Delhi‑NCR and neighboring states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, adding to the regional footfall.
Film revives curiosity about the saint’s legacy
The movie Hanuman Ansh dramatizes the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, sparking renewed public interest in the guru and the places he frequented. While social media chatter linked the crowd surge to the film, Chaturvedi stopped short of blaming the movie outright, focusing instead on responsible travel habits.
"Check live crowd updates before you head to Kainchi Dham, and if it’s too crowded, explore one of the many other sacred sites connected to Neem Karoli Baba," the director said.
His core message remains simple: verify real‑time crowd conditions before visiting Kainchi Dham, and consider alternative spiritually rich destinations if needed.
