Gold Futures Retreat on the MCX
On Monday, 5 October, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) saw the October‑delivery gold contract slip to about ₹1,49,347 per 10 g, a decline of roughly ₹1,043 during the session. The dip ran counter to a modest rise in global gold prices, highlighting the divergent trajectory of Indian futures versus the international market.
Silver Charges Ahead by Nearly ₹700
Silver moved in the opposite direction, gaining ₹697 to close around ₹2,26,393 per kilogram on the MCX. The metal’s rally outpaced gold locally and mirrored a stronger percentage gain overseas.
Current Indian Gold Prices by Purity
24‑carat (24K) gold
India’s highest‑purity tier is quoted near ₹1,49,540 per 10 g. Being virtually pure, it commands the top price among standard grades.
22‑carat (22K) gold
The workhorse for jewellery, 22K gold is listed at roughly ₹1,37,078 per 10 g. Its slightly lower gold content makes it a favourite for intricate designs.
18‑carat (18K) gold
The 18K segment trades around ₹1,12,155 per 10 g. With a reduced gold proportion, it offers a more budget‑friendly option for everyday pieces.
Silver Price Snapshot
In the domestic market, silver was hovering at about ₹2,26,770 per kilogram. The metal continues to draw attention, as its price movement outstripped gold during Monday’s session.
International Benchmarks Remain Positive
Globally, both metals posted gains. On the COMEX, gold edged up about 0.06 % to $4,164.80 per ounce, while silver leapt roughly 1.46 %, reaching $61.30 per ounce.
Why Your Final Bill May Vary
Precious‑metal rates can swing several times within a trading day. Moreover, the price you pay for jewellery often exceeds the quoted bullion rate because of making charges, taxes and design intricacies. Always confirm the latest local rates and applicable fees before finalising a purchase.
