Commercial LPG Rates Jump in Delhi

Major oil marketers have boosted the cost of a 19‑kg commercial LPG cylinder by more than Rs 60 in several Indian cities. The exact hike differs from one market to another due to local tax variations, but the overall picture is clear: businesses will face higher fuel bills just as the festive rush begins.

By contrast, domestic LPG cylinders for households remain unchanged, offering a brief respite for home cooks.

New Pricing in the Capital

In Delhi, the latest revision adds Rs 62.50 to the commercial cylinder price, pushing the total to Rs 2,810 per unit. This follows a modest Rs 9.50 increase that was introduced in September.

The timing is crucial. Festive celebrations typically trigger a surge in demand for cooking gas among hotels, restaurants, catering firms and roadside dhabas. The higher cylinder price is therefore set to lift operating costs for these establishments.

Implications for Food‑Service Operators

Commercial LPG is the lifeblood of kitchens in hotels, restaurants and small food stalls. Even a seemingly small rise can ripple through profit margins:

  • Large hotels may notice a noticeable uptick in utility expenses.
  • Mid‑size restaurants could see tighter margins, prompting a review of menu pricing.
  • Small roadside vendors and catering units might struggle to absorb the added cost without passing it on to customers.

Owners will need to decide whether to absorb the extra expense or reflect it in the price of dishes and services. As the festive season approaches, these choices could subtly shape the price tags diners encounter.

While residential consumers are spared a price jump on their home LPG connections, the commercial sector must brace for higher fuel costs during one of the busiest periods of the year.
