New Delhi: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) disclosed a robust cargo‑handling performance for September 2026 and the first six months of fiscal year 2026‑27.
In its operational update filed with the stock exchanges, the company reported handling 46 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in September 2026, representing an 11% year‑on‑year increase over the same month a year earlier.
Across the April‑September period, total cargo volumes reached 280 MMT, a rise of 15% compared with the corresponding stretch of the previous financial year.
Container segment fuels growth
Container handling was a key driver of the overall uplift. APSEZ logged a 15% year‑on‑year jump in container volumes during the first half of FY27.
Dry‑bulk cargo mirrored this trend, posting a 15% increase over the same period.
These figures underscore steady expansion across the port’s core business lines in the opening six months of the fiscal year.
Rail logistics delivers mixed signals
While rail‑logistics activity rose in September, the segment’s cumulative performance for the first half lagged behind the prior year.
September 2026 saw rail‑logistics volumes of 62,302 TEUs, a modest 3% gain year‑on‑year.
However, from April to September the total fell to 312,763 TEUs, marking a 13% decline versus the same timeframe last year.
September’s numbers reinforce half‑year momentum
The September data bolstered APSEZ’s half‑year results, with the port’s core cargo categories all delivering double‑digit growth.
Overall cargo handling rose 15% in the April‑September window, while both container and dry‑bulk volumes posted 15% annual increases. The September cargo‑handling tally of 46 MMT contributed an 11% uplift over the comparable month of the previous year.
These operational metrics were released as part of APSEZ’s September 2026 and FY27 first‑half update.
